Last Blog For This Year

I am learning to reflect on what I have done or enjoyed throughout this year.

My favourite term this year would have to be T2W5, Term 2 is my favourite Term 2 because that was when the Kia manawanui syndicate went to camp at camp raglan⛺

What I enjoyed most about going to camp raglan was getting to connect with people i'm not really close with and also learning how to work together.

This year I enjoyed the manaiakalani film festival because I got to see other schools work and what they actually learn or do at school.

One achievement I am most proud of is getting more confidant since last year (2017) 

To describe 2018 in three words I would use would be fun,enjoyable and challenging.

Something I discovered about myself is that I am actually improving in my learning, especially Maths because I wasn't the greatest at Maths but I do think I improved.

5 people I enjoy spending time with is Mary-Jane,Arizona,Constance,Monita and Aja, But I didn't just enjoy it was just these 5 people I also enjoyed it with the whole Kia manawanui syndicate.👯

Reading-turning old into new

We are learning to use analysing skills to identify key ideas in a text.

This morning I have read a text called Turning old into new.
And I have also been working on a presentation with my friend Arizona and answering questions like...
Do you agree with the author? Why? Why not?

Did you know that a company in England collects old chewing gum and they can turn it into phone cases,shoes,boots or even jackets.

What I found interesting was finding out that you can actually make things out of chewing gum and turn it into clothes or shoes.

Maths-Decimals

We are learning to Add,subtract and read decimals.

Today for Maths I have been given a sheet about decimals.

As you could tell by the learning intention the Kia manawanui syndicate and I are learning how to add,Subtract and read decimals.

In maths I have been answering questions like...

32.6+25.7=𞠡 Or 20.8+32.5=𞠡

And to get the answer I usually use something called Algorithm, Algorithem is something that can help you solve hard questions like the questions above.

What I enjoyed about maths was learning that I can actually answer some questions that I am not really sure of, but before when people taught me how to do Algorithem I was very confused but now I get it when they say carry the 1 and stuff like that.

What I found challenging was not knowing if the answer was right or not so everytime I answer I would always calculate it to see if it actually is correct.

Quiz

I am learning to reflect on the quiz

Today the Kia manawanui syndicate and I have done a quiz about random things just to test our knowledge.

What I found challenging was trying to answer some of the questions but not even knowing the answers.

But something that I found enjoyable was finding out new things about Culturs,the Royal family and etc.

One of the easiest questions would have to be the one were there was a image with a flag

 and we had to figure out what country it is from either 

Colombia,Venezuela or Peru.

And the one I chose was Colombia and it was correct witch i was pretty happy about.

Manaiakalani film festival

We are learning to reflect on manaiakalani film festival.

Today at school after morning tea the whole of Tamaki Primary School went to the cinemas to watch short films from other schools like Panmure bridge,Point england,Ruaportika and more.

What I enjoyed at the manaiakalani film festival was watching all the different movies made from other schools.

But something i dislike is having to sit in the chairs for 3 hours and not being able to talk.

To me my favorite movie would have to be the one of point englands movies because most of them are really important like putting rubbish in the bin.

Inquiary-Technology

WALA:Our technological world

This morning the kia manawanui syndicate and I have been learning about technology.

Today we all did an activity and had to get into a cemi circle and our teacher (Ms Komor) would point at us and we will have to name a type of technology and she will go around the circle. But if someone says the same thing that the other person said then that means that we have to do it again.

But something that I have learned about technology is that there are a lot of types of technology three of them are Construction,Medichal and agricultral.

and I also learned that technology may or may not have electricity.

What I enjoyed learning during this sesion of inquiry is doing the activity with everyone because everyone was naming some things that I didnt even know was technology.

What I found challenging about Inquiry was when my teacher (Ms Komor) handed out the paper with questions on it and we had to answer it but we had to do it in minuts.So it was pretty dificult to think of something in just minuts.

Duffy Assembelly

Michel Mulipola

DUFFY ASSEMBELLY

Today at assembelly we met Michel Mulipola, he is an artist and a wrestler. 

FACT: Michel Mulipola has ilistrated most of the books that schools read now, like: Fanene Peter Malvia, Cook island heroes,Samoan heroes etc.

Michel Mulipola is a Samoan wrestler and he has met a lot of wrestlers that are from WWE and one of them was charlotte flairs dad.

He told us that comic books lead to him wanting to read books and he was actually reading The Lord Of The Rings.

This week is Maori language week and the Kia manawanui syndicate is learning about the Maori language using a pepeha.

To me a Pepeha is about introducing yourself using the language maori.

A challenge for me was trying to understand what it means like the word tribe, I found out that in New zealand they call it Tribe and in the islands we call it Village or Island.

Visiting Rarotonga

Three days ago I have arrived to my home land (Rarotonga) with my mum and my grandfather.

Once I got of the plane I was so exited to see my older sister Jena and my cousin Lena. They both don't really know how to speak very good English so I have to speak penryhn/Tongareva to them.

When we got off the plane it was 1:08 am so we ended up surprising everyone because they didn't know we were coming but they did know that my grandfather was coming.

In the afternoon we were bored so we ended up saying some tounge twisters like...

She sells sea shells on the sea shore.

&

 I wish to wish the wish you wish to wish but if you wish to wish the witch to wish wishes I wont want to wish the wish you wish to wish.
etc

Sometimes we would play spotlight everynight or make up our own games.

But today I went to work with my dad (Rarotongan resort) he was kinda the boss there because he was best friends with the actual boss.

So whenever me and my siblings go there we were aloud to do anything so we would always cary around necklaces with keys on it so that we can have fun at any time. 

My favorite thing to do is going to the kitchen and helping my uncle Ngalu cook and after that we get food for ourselves and we sometimes eat in the pool.

Bible study

I am learning to study the word of God

- GOD -

Today is the day were I meet up with my church in a hall were we always do our practises,bible study and our church activity's.

In Bible study we were focusing on one topic wich is Love.

We learned about the meaning of Love and different type of ways that people show Love.
So during Bible study we sometimes learn about different type of languages, so this time we learned about the language Greek and turns out my parents have studied the language in Rarotonga so we learned three typs of Love meanings and the names are Agape,Philia and Eros.

So these names are all the same word in english but different meanings
TRANSLATION...

Agape - Love for everyone
Philia - Love and peace
Eros - Half Love

Above I have put down the translation to the meanings of the words so Agape means that, that one person loves everyone. Philia means that he/she has a deep relationship and has peace with one another and last but not least Eros, Eros is the tpe of love that people just say it but don't mean it for example just because someone does something for you thatt one person says they love them just because they did that one thing.

Natural disasters - Floods

We are learning to summarise information in a text.

Today I will be showing you what I have learned about floods

Definition:A flood is a large amount of water that goes beyond its normal limit.

What is a flood?
Floods cannot be prevented or divert floods.
Floods can also be caused by heavy flash storms.
Floods usually happen when a river bursts out and make its way to land.

Effects:
1. People can lose a lot of their belongings like...

-Water

Natural disaster

We are learning to Research about natural disasters.

Today we are learning about Natural disaster and there are many things that can cause a natural disaster like Earth quack,Tsunami,Heatwaves, and many more.
A natural disaster isn't when something hits your house and it breaks down, a natural disaster is when something that happens naturaly like a Earthquack. Besides that we have been told to blog about one thing that can cause a natural disaster so I have chosen a Earthquack.

Since I will be talking about Earthquack I had a lot of questions to be answerd like Why does it happen? What causes an Earthquack? So I went to do some reaserching about the Earthquack and found a lot of things to talk about but right now I will be only answering 2 questions.

Question 1: What causes an Earthquack?

Earthquakes are usually caused by rocks that suddenly breack underground and goes along the whole world.

Questions 2: Where does an Earthquack usually happen?

Earthquacks usually happen in country's that has a lot of oceans in it and a lot that are at the Earth's crust.

In the holidays

In the holidays I went to a camp called Campbell park with all my brothers,Sisters and cousins while my parents were having a holiday in Rarotonga.
At camp there were only 4 rooms that we could use (Room 6,7,8 and 9) and in it we had 1 bathroom and 10 bunks in it so we all had to share 1 bathroom.
At camp I was in room 6 and had to share it with 4 of my brothers while my cousins were in room 7and since I was sharing a room with all my brothers I cauldnt share a bathroom with them so I would always go to my cousins rooms.

What I enjoyed about camp is that we all are put into 4 groups and eatch group has a time were they do breakfast,Lunch and dinner and also devotion, so what I like about it is that whenever we do something I really dislike I always get pulled out of doing it and end up going to practise for devotion or cooking our food.

My favorite part of the day at camp is at night when we do devotion because in devotion we sing a lot of cook island and english christan songs and we do skits/plays and we present some things related to our topic.

At camp we were told to make a name so eatch group was given 1 banner eatch and we all have to come up with a name for our group. So my group came up with Slow and Steady and we chooe that name because we think that we shouldn't rush and just to take it slow.we also had to add some colors and they had to have a meaning to it so  our colors are red,blue and white.

The meaning of colors: Blue - Represcents the depth of the sea witch is how deep the love of God is.
Red - Represcents the blood of God.
and White - Represcents people who are pure in heart.

What is a phone stand?

A phone stand is an object that holds your phone without you holding it.

WHY?

Why do we use phone stands?

We use phone stands to hold the phone with no hands.

Why is it called a phone stand?

I think the inventor called it the way it is cslled because the object is used to hold the phone upwards.

WHEN?

When was the phone stand invented?

I tried searching when it was invented but it didn't show up so im gonna guess that the phone stand was invented in 2007 because that was the year that the iphone was invented.

10th Birthday

On Friday 30th June it was my Cousins birthday. His name is Bullard Tuarae he is one of my closest Cousins along with his 2 brothers (Tivivi and Byron) so in the cook islands we don'r believe in Cousins so we call everyone brothers and sisters. But when the church is over I call them my cousins so I only call my cousins that I am closer to brother and sister.

On Friday it was my "Brothers" birthday but I couldn't make it because I had to look after my niece and my little sister.
After Bullards birthday we had a prair meeting at my house so when they  got here they bought some food inside like Cupcake,Pizza and a whole lot of island food.
